Readable Anchor Links for Blocks

Blocks now accept a custom anchor ID, so links to a section of a page use a readable name you choose.

A link to a section of a page is easier to share, and easier to trust, when it ends in a name like tickets or getting-here. Blocks now have an optional Anchor ID, so you can choose the name that appears at the end of the link. This works for Website Builder blocks and for blocks in custom themes.

Set it once per block

Enter the Anchor ID on the block and Basker tidies it into a link-friendly form when you save. Each anchor must be unique on its page, and Basker checks this for you, so two blocks cannot claim the same link.

Existing links keep working

Blocks without a custom Anchor ID keep the link they already had, so anchor links you have shared continue to land in the right place. The Copy anchor link action in the admin copies the custom name once one is set.
