Image Size Overrides at a Glance

An image can carry a hand-picked alternative for a particular size, such as a tighter crop for mobile or a different composition for a ticketing layout. Until now that was only visible from inside the media item itself. Media fields across the admin now mark any image that has one or more size overrides, so an editor placing an image on a page can see at once that a custom version exists for some sizes without opening the media record.

Who can manage image sizes

Image sizes are defined once per site and reused everywhere, so changing them is a site-wide decision. A new permission separates managing those definitions from editing media day to day. Users without it can still upload, crop, and place images, but the controls for creating and editing size definitions are hidden.
