Automatic SEO Meta Defaults

Pages without manually set meta titles and descriptions now inherit smarter defaults from their content.

Previously, pages without an explicit SEO title and description would fall back to the site-level defaults, resulting in identical meta tags across many event and blog pages. Basker now derives sensible defaults from the page content automatically.

Default generation rules

  • Event pages: title is {Event Name} | {Venue Name}, description is the first 155 characters of the event synopsis.
  • Blog posts: title is the post title, description is the post excerpt or the first 155 characters of the body.
  • Listing pages: title uses the page heading, description is derived from the current filter state if applicable.

Manual overrides

Per-page SEO fields in the editor still take full precedence. If you have already set a custom title or description, nothing changes.

Open Graph and Twitter Card

The same default logic applies to og:title, og:description, and the equivalent Twitter Card fields. Cover and hero images are used for og:image automatically if no social image is set.
