Overview

Design slides, build playlists, and schedule browser-based displays with Basker Screens

Basker Screens lets you design and schedule digital signage using content already in Basker. It is a beta feature available with the Screens add-on. Contact sales if you want to add Screens to your plan or if it does not appear in the admin navigation.

Use Screens for browser-based displays in foyers, box offices, front-of-house areas, and kiosks.

How Screens fits together

Design a template

A template is a reusable slide design. It defines the aspect ratio, zones, blocks, theme, and any places where a finished slide should pull in Basker content.

Create slides

A slide is the item an audience sees. Start from a template for a consistent design or build a one-off slide from scratch. A slide can contain fixed text and media, linked event or venue information, or both.

Build a playlist

A playlist puts slides in playback order and sets how many seconds each one appears. The playlist starts again after its final slide.

Schedule a channel

A channel is the output opened by a display. Add recurring time slots to decide which playlists run on which days and at which times.

Open the display

Open the channel on the display's full-screen browser. The player follows the site's timezone and checks for saved changes automatically.

Screens navigation

The Screens tab is divided into two groups:

  • Programming contains Schedule, Channels, Playlists, and Slides.
  • Design contains Templates, Themes, and Settings.

Templates and slides are deliberately separate. Templates are reusable starting points; slides are the finished items placed in playlists.

A good first display

For a first test, keep the setup small:

  1. Create one 16:9 template with a single zone.
  2. Create two slides from it and add different text or images.
  3. Put both slides in a playlist with a short duration.
  4. Create a 16:9 channel and schedule that playlist all day.
  5. Use Open screen to preview it before opening the public channel URL on a display.

Once that works, add dynamic content, more detailed layouts, and recurring time periods.
