Build reusable templates

A slide template is a reusable design for creating consistent slides. Use one when several slides need the same zones, typography, branding, and content pattern.

Templates are most useful for repeatable jobs such as event promotions, welcome messages, wayfinding, or venue information.

Create a template

Open Screens → Templates and create a template.

1. Give the template a name that describes its purpose.
2. Choose an aspect ratio.
3. Choose the direction and zone preset.
4. Reverse the zone order if needed.
5. Select Create template to open the slide builder.

Add the blocks, backgrounds, spacing, theme, and branding that every slide made from this template should begin with.

Add dynamic content slots

Link the whole template, a zone, or a supported data block to a content type such as an event, venue, season, or series. Choose a sample record so you can judge the design with realistic content.

The sample is not the record every finished slide will use. When someone creates a slide from the template, they choose the real record for each dynamic slot.

Use stable, descriptive names for zones and data blocks. Those names help editors recognise each linked-content field on the finished slide.

Create a slide from the template

Open Screens → Slides, create a slide, choose A template, and select the template. The slide receives a copy of the template design and exposes its dynamic slots for real content choices.

You can also create a template-based slide while adding a slide to a playlist.

Understand later template changes

Existing slides keep the design copied from the template when they were created. Editing a template is useful for future slides, but it does not automatically change every existing slide.

To move an existing slide to a revised or different template:

1. Open the slide record.
2. Select the new Slide Template.
3. Choose Apply template.
4. Review the layout and every linked-content field.

Applying a different template replaces the slide layout, aspect ratio, and branding state. Basker remaps linked records by binding type and slot order. Extra old links are removed, and new slots without a match are left empty, so verify the result before playback.

Template design tips

• Match the aspect ratio used by the target channels.
• Keep the important information inside predictable zones.
• Use a screen theme instead of repeating individual colour and font choices.
• Preview long titles, missing images, and unusually short or long dates.
• Use sample records only to test the design, not as permanent content.
• Name templates by purpose, such as Portrait event feature or Landscape wayfinding.
