Create and edit slides

Create a display slide from scratch or from a reusable template

A slide is a finished screen design that can be added to one or more playlists. Create a one-off slide from scratch, or start from a template when several slides should share the same structure.

Create a slide

Open Screens → Slides and choose to create a slide.

  1. Enter a clear name. This name is used in slide pickers and playlist previews, but it is not shown to the audience unless you also add it as visible content.
  2. Under Start from, choose Blank slide or A template.
  3. Complete the setup and create the slide.

Start with a blank slide

For a blank slide, choose:

  • Aspect ratio: 16:9 landscape, 9:16 portrait, 1:1 square, 4:3, or custom dimensions.
  • Direction: arrange one-dimensional zone presets horizontally or vertically.
  • Zone preset: use one zone, a proportional split, thirds, quarters, or one of the grid layouts.
  • Reverse zone order: flip the order of zones in a one-dimensional layout.

A live diagram in the creation panel previews the selected shape and zone layout.

Start from a template

Choose A template, then select one of the available slide templates. The new slide receives the template's aspect ratio, zones, blocks, theme, and dynamic content slots.

The finished slide has its own content. Later edits to the template do not silently rewrite slides already created from it. See Build reusable templates for how to apply a different template deliberately.

Work in the slide builder

The slide builder has four main areas:

  • The block palette contains content and layout blocks.
  • The canvas shows the slide at its chosen shape.
  • The zones and blocks tree shows the structure of the slide and lets you select or reorder items.
  • The inspector changes the selected slide, zone, group, or block.

See Use the slide builder for the detailed workflow.

If the template or slide contains dynamic slots, the slide record asks you to choose the real event, venue, season, or series for each slot. These choices supply the content shown in the live player.

The sample record used while designing a template is only a preview. Always check the linked records on the finished slide before adding it to a playlist.

Change a slide's template

Open the slide record and choose another Slide Template, then select Apply template. Applying a different template replaces the slide layout, aspect ratio, and branding state. Basker remaps linked records by binding type and slot order. Extra old links are removed, and new slots without a match are left empty.

Save or discard other changes before applying a different template. Review the slide afterwards, especially its linked records, branding, aspect ratio, and preview.

Keep the display shape consistent

Use the same aspect ratio for the template, slides, and channel whenever possible. A slide designed for another shape can have awkward spacing or proportions when it fills the channel's stage.

For a custom display, enter a positive width and height on both the slide and channel. Test it in the actual browser and screen orientation before relying on it unattended.
