Themes and branding

Reuse display colours and fonts, then add normal and inverted logos

Screen themes provide reusable colours and fonts. Screen Settings holds the site's normal and inverted logos. A slide can use both systems together.

These settings are separate from the theme used by your public website.

Create a screen theme

Open Screens → Themes and create a theme. Give it a clear name, then choose:

  • A heading font
  • A body font
  • Background colour
  • Surface colour
  • Text colour
  • Primary colour
  • Accent colour

The font picker includes the fonts available to your site, including uploaded custom fonts. Colour values support normal hex colours and hex colours with an alpha channel.

The theme preview helps you check the palette and typography together before using it in slides.

Apply a theme

Open a template or blank slide in the slide builder. Select the slide itself, then choose the theme under Design → Theme.

Theme colour roles appear as quick choices in compatible colour controls. Use roles such as text, background, or accent instead of repeating fixed hex values when you want later theme changes to remain consistent.

A colour control can store a theme role or a fixed hex value. Colours using a role follow later theme changes; fixed hex colours stay unchanged. Heading blocks inherit the heading font, while other text uses the body font unless you override it.

Selecting a theme sets the slide's base background to that theme's Background colour. Selecting No theme resets the base background to white.

A slide created from a template receives that template's theme. The theme is template-owned for that slide, so change it by deliberately applying another template.

Editing the selected screen theme's colours or fonts updates slides that still reference it after the player refreshes.

Set the logos

Open Screens → Settings and select:

  • Branding logo: the normal logo used across screen slides.
  • Inverted logo: an alternate version, usually light, for dark backgrounds.

If the inverted logo is empty, Basker falls back to the normal branding logo.

Show branding on a slide

In the slide builder, select the slide and turn on Show brand logo. You can then:

  • Use the normal or inverted logo.
  • Place it in any corner.
  • Change its size.
  • Change its distance from the slide edges.

Branding is a per-slide choice. Turning it on for one slide does not force the logo onto every other slide.

The separate Logo block is useful when the logo needs to sit inside the layout rather than as a corner overlay. It resolves the Screen Settings logo through the selected screen theme, so use the corner branding option when a slide has No theme.

Test theme changes

The public player checks for content changes every 15 seconds. After changing a theme or logo, allow a short delay and check the signed channel preview.

Test normal and inverted logos over their intended backgrounds, and confirm that custom fonts load on the display device before leaving it unattended.

A screen theme cannot be deleted while a template or slide still uses it. Change those designs to another theme first.
