Button

A single call-to-action button that links anywhere and takes its look from a theme button pattern.

The Button block places one call-to-action button on the page. You set where it links, which button style it uses, and an optional icon beside the label. Reach for it when you want a standalone button — to send a visitor to a ticket page, a sign-up form, or an external site — rather than a button buried inside a block of text.

Add it from the Add Block panel under the Basic group.

The button's text and destination are set under Button Link.

  • Label — the text the visitor sees and clicks.
  • Choose Internal link to point at one of your own pages, events, people, seasons, series, works, venues, organizations, or posts, or Custom URL to type any external web address. Linking internally keeps the address correct even if you later rename or move the target.
  • Site — on multi-site setups, choose which site the linked entry belongs to. Shown only for internal links.
  • Target — set to Current Tab to open in the same tab, or New Tab to open a new browser tab. Buttons open in the same tab by default.

This is the same link picker used everywhere on your site. See Buttons and links for the full reference.

Choose the style and icon

The button's colour and shape come from a Pattern — a saved button style defined by your theme.

  • Button Pattern — pick a button style from your theme. If you leave it empty, the button falls back to the theme's first available style.
  • Icon — add a small icon to the button. Icons use the same picker found throughout the builder.
  • Icon Position — once you pick an icon, choose Before Text or After Text. It sits before the text by default.

This button's look is set entirely by the chosen button pattern — there are no per-button colour controls. To restyle every button at once, edit the pattern in your theme rather than each block. See Themes.

Shared controls

The Button block has no Settings tab — its layout and spacing follow the block above and below it, and the two sections above are all there is to configure.

  • For the link picker and how internal and external links behave, see Buttons and links.
  • For where button styles come from and how to change them site-wide, see Themes.

Worked example

To add a "Buy tickets" button that opens an event page:

Add the block

In the Add Block panel, open the Basic group and choose Button.

Set the label and destination

In Button Link, type Buy tickets as the Label, choose Internal link, and select the event you want from the picker.

Pick the style and icon

Set Button Pattern to your theme's primary button style, choose a ticket Icon, and leave Icon Position on Before Text so it appears ahead of the label.
