Add a banner

Add a full-width Welcome banner to the Lumen Arts homepage with the page image behind a heading, subtitle, button, and overlay.

This step needs a main image on the page — the photo the banner sits on. If you haven't set one, add the page's Main Image first (see Media library).

Now give the Lumen Arts homepage its opener: a full-width Banner showing the festival's main image behind a heading, a short line of supporting text, and a single button. You'll add a Media Overlay so the words stay readable over the artwork.

Add the Banner block

On the Content tab, click the Add Block button (the +) at the bottom of the block list. In the Add Block panel, search for Banner and click it to insert it. Keep its Welcome style — the default — which shows your text over a full-width background. See Banner.

Show the page image behind it

Open the banner's Background tab and turn on Background Media. Leave Use Page Media on so the banner reuses the page's main image — change the page's image later and the banner follows. See Background and overlay.

Write the heading and subtitle

Under Details, set the Title to Lumen Arts Festival and the Subtitle to A week of light, sound, and performance — 12–19 October. The Title is required; the Subtitle is the supporting line beneath it.

Add one call-to-action button

Under Details, add a single button to Buttons. Set its Label to Plan your visit, choose Internal link, and point Document to link to at your visitor-information page. Keep one button for a clean opener. See Buttons and links.

Keep the text readable with an overlay

Back on the Background tab, set Media Overlay to Color. Switch Overlay Style to Gradient and set Gradient Direction to Up so the image darkens toward the bottom while the top stays open. The text then reads clearly against the lower part of the photo.

Check it in the preview

Watch the preview pane: the festival image fills the top of the page, with your heading, subtitle, and Plan your visit button low over the artwork. Because you added the banner first, it sits at the top of the page — the first thing a visitor sees.

With the opener in place, the page needs an introduction and a list of what's on.
