Text
A block of formatted body text with the full rich-text toolbar.
The Text block adds a block of formatted body copy to a page. Use it for paragraphs, intro text, and any prose that sits between your headings, images, and other blocks. It opens the full rich-text toolbar, so a single Text block can carry paragraphs, sub-headings, lists, links, coloured text, and special characters all at once.
Text
The Text field is where you write. The toolbar gives you the complete set of formatting controls: headings (Heading 1 through Heading 6), bold and italic, bulleted and numbered lists, links, font colour, special characters, and tables. You can also insert a Button, an HTML snippet, or a Media item within the text.
See the text editor for the full toolbar reference.
Width and alignment
The Layout controls decide how wide the text runs and where it sits.
- Width — Fit shrinks the block to the width of its content; Fill stretches it across the available space. Set to Fill by default.
- Max Width — caps how wide the lines of text can run: Narrow, Normal, or None. Set to None by default.
- Alignment — Left, Center, or Right. Set to Left by default. This control is hidden when Width is set to Fit.
Background
Turn on the Background toggle (off by default) to sit the text on a tinted panel.
- Background Color — the panel colour. Defaults to white.
- Corner Radius — rounds the panel's corners, from 0 to 120px. Defaults to 0 (square corners).
Both controls appear only once Background is switched on.
Shared controls
The Text block has the standard Padding tab, with Padding and Margin controls (top and bottom, plus left and right spacing) and an analytics key. Text starts with its padding and margin set to 0 so consecutive Text blocks sit tight against one another — adjust them if you need more space.
- Spacing and padding — the room inside and around the block, including left and right spacing.
- Analytics keys — tag the block for reporting.
Example
To add a paragraph of intro copy below a heading: drop in a Text block, type your paragraph into the Text field, and leave Width on Fill. For a long passage that should read comfortably, set Max Width to Narrow so the lines don't stretch the full width of the page.
Text is not Rich Text
The Text block is a single styled surface for prose. The Rich Text block is a container that holds other blocks. If you want to write a paragraph, you want Text.
