Commerce and ticketing
How donations, memberships, and the provider booking blocks fit together, and what each one needs.
Commerce and ticketing on a Basker page come from a handful of blocks: a giving prompt, a tiers layout, and provider-backed booking. Some work on their own; others appear only once a ticketing integration is connected.
Provider blocks need the app connected
The Spektrix, Elevent, and Tessitura blocks appear in the block list only once that integration is connected and synced. Until then they stay hidden, and their event, fund, and performance pickers have nothing to pull from. See Spektrix, Elevent, and Tessitura to connect one, and Apps for the full list of integrations.
Giving: Donation and Membership
These two blocks ask visitors to give or join, and both work with or without a connected provider.
- Donation — a giving prompt on the page as a button, an inline form with suggested amounts, or a list. Its Ticketing Provider option starts at General, a plain button that needs no connection; pick Elevent, Spektrix, or Tessitura to drive it from a giving option, fund, or contribution. See Donation.
- Membership — lays out your supporter tiers as Cards, a List, or a comparison Table, each with a join button. Set a Ticketing Provider and each tier can pull its live title and price; leave it on General and you fill those in by hand. See Membership.
Booking: the provider blocks
When the matching app is connected, three blocks add booking and provider-hosted experiences:
- Spektrix — embeds a Spektrix experience chosen by Type: an event list, calendar, seat selection, basket, checkout, account, donations, memberships, and more. See Spektrix.
- Elevent — a booking button for an event and its performances, wired to Elevent. See Elevent.
- Tessitura — a booking button for an event and the dates you choose, wired to Tessitura. See Tessitura.
Event booking without a generic block
There is no standalone, add-anywhere booking block. Event booking is handled in two ways:
- On an event page, the Event Instances block lists each date with its own booking button. Where each button leads depends on the connected provider. This block appears only while building an event page. See Event instances.
- Anywhere else, use the provider block (Elevent or Tessitura) for a focused booking button, or a Spektrix block set to the right Type. Buttons elsewhere on the page can also link straight to a provider booking destination.
Which one should I use?
| You want to… | Use |
|---|---|
| Take one-off or recurring donations | Donation |
| Show supporter or membership tiers people can join | Membership |
| List every date of an event, each with a book button | Event Instances (event pages) |
| Put a single book button for one event on any page | Elevent or Tessitura |
| Embed a Spektrix event list, calendar, basket, or checkout | Spektrix |
For donations and memberships you can start with General and add a provider later. For booking through Elevent, Spektrix, or Tessitura, connect the app first so the block becomes available.
