Page menu
Add breadcrumbs, a hand-built menu, or an automatic navigation tree inside the body of a page.
The Page Menu block places navigation inside a page's content, separate from your site header. Use it to add a section menu, a breadcrumb trail, or a list of child pages where readers need to move around a group of related pages.
When you add the block, choose one of three forms. The default is Menu.
Menu
A hand-built menu you control item by item. Use it when you want to link to a specific, curated set of pages.
Menu Items is a repeatable list. Each item has:
- Link — the top-level entry. Point it at a page or an external address, and give it an icon if you want one.
- Sub-items — an optional nested list of child links under that entry. Each sub-item is a link and can take its own icon. The sub-items list starts collapsed in the editor — open it to add links.
Navigation Tree
Builds a list automatically from your page structure, so it stays current as you add or move pages. Use it on a section landing page to list everything beneath it.
- Parent Page — the page the list is built from. Leave it empty to use the current page.
- Include Parent — when on, the parent page itself appears at the top of the list. On by default.
- Max Depth — how many levels deep the list goes, from 1 to 5. Set to 2 by default.
For how nesting and ordering work, see Organising pages in the site tree.
Breadcrumbs
Shows the trail of pages leading to the current page, drawn automatically from where the page sits in your structure.
- Include Home — when on, the trail starts at your Home page. On by default.
Built from your page structure
Navigation Tree and Breadcrumbs read your live page hierarchy — you don't list pages by hand. Only the Menu form is built manually.
Shared controls
Every form of this block shares the standard controls:
- Layout controls — set the container width (Full Width, Page, Narrow, or Custom). It defaults to Page.
- Spacing and padding — padding and margin, both starting at zero.
- Colour scheme in blocks — pick a colour scheme, or set the background and text colours directly.
- Buttons and links — the link and icon picker used only by the Menu form's items. Navigation Tree and Breadcrumbs generate their links automatically.
Example: a section menu
To list the child pages of a "Visit" section on its landing page:
Add the block and choose Navigation Tree
Add Page Menu to the landing page and pick the Navigation Tree form.
Set the Parent Page
Set Parent Page to the "Visit" page. Leave it empty if you are adding the block on that page itself.
Set the depth
Set Max Depth to 2 to show direct children and one level below. Turn Include Parent off if you don't want "Visit" repeated at the top.
As you add pages under "Visit", they appear in the menu automatically.
