Add content and events

Add a short intro below the Lumen Arts banner, then a Collection that lists upcoming events with a chosen card style.

With the banner in place, add the body of the Lumen Arts homepage: a short welcome, then a row of upcoming events that updates itself as your programme changes.

Add an intro below the banner

In any block's "..." menu, choose Add below to insert a new block directly under the banner, or use the bottom +. Add a Text block for a paragraph of welcome copy, or a Text & Image block if you want a photo beside the words.

For a plain intro, add a Text block, write a short paragraph into the Text field — for example, Lumen Arts returns for a week of after-dark performance, light installations, and live music across three venues. — and, on its Layout tab, set Max Width to Narrow so the line length stays comfortable to read. See Text.

For a paired layout, add a Text & Image block instead: set the Heading to Welcome to Lumen, add the welcome paragraph under Body, and choose a festival photo for Image. On its Layout tab, put the Image side on Left. See Text & image.

Add the upcoming-events listing

Below the intro, add a Collection block. Above the tabs sit its two main selectors: set Layout to Grid and Collection to Events.

Open the Content tab and add a Title of What's on. Leave Populate by on Collection so the listing fills itself from your events automatically, keep Hide past events on, and leave Sort By on Most Recent (the default) so the soonest events lead. Limit caps how many events show at once (10 by default), and Description adds a line of text below the title if you want one. Leave Hide when empty off so the block still appears while you build. To send visitors to your full programme, turn on Show View All Link under View All Link and point it at your events page.

The grid shows three across by default; change Columns on the Settings tab if you want a different count. To let visitors narrow the list, open the Behaviour tab, turn on Enable Filters, and keep the Venue Filter and Season Filter on. See Collection.

Choose how each event looks

Open the Collection's Cards tab and pick a Card pattern that suits events — the design that shows a date and venue. Each event then appears as a card carrying its title, image, date, and venue, drawn from the event itself. To keep every event matching the rest of the listing, leave Use preset layout on — that toggle lives on the Card itself.

Tidy the order

Drag a block by its handle to reorder it, or use Move up and Move down in its "..." menu — the banner stays at the top, the intro sits beneath it, and the events listing comes last. To reuse a block's setup, pick Duplicate to drop an independent copy directly below it. See The block editor.

Check it in the preview

In the preview pane, the homepage now reads top to bottom: the banner opener, the welcome intro, then a grid of upcoming events under "What's on".

The homepage is built. The last step is to check it over and put it live.
