Heading

A standalone heading with its own width, alignment, and optional background panel.

The Heading block places a single styled heading on the page. You type the wording in a small text field, choose the heading size from the formatting toolbar, and set how wide it sits, how it lines up, and whether it sits inside a tinted panel.

Reach for it when a section needs a title of its own — a page heading at the top, or a label above a row of cards or media — rather than the heading that comes baked into a larger block.

Text

Type the heading wording in the Text field. It uses the same formatting toolbar as the rest of Basker: pick the heading size (Heading 1 through Heading 6), apply bold or italic, set a font colour, add lists or a table, insert special characters, or drop in a Button, Media item, or HTML snippet inline.

The size you choose sets the visual scale; your theme decides the exact font, weight, and colour. For the full toolbar, see the text editor.

Use one Heading 1 per page — usually the main page title — and step down through Heading 2 to Heading 6 for the sections beneath it. This keeps the page readable for visitors using assistive technology and helps search engines understand the page.

Layout

The Layout group controls how much space the heading takes and where it sits.

  • WidthFit shrinks the heading to the width of its wording; Fill spans the full width available. Default: Fill.
  • Max Width — caps how wide the heading can grow: Narrow, Normal, or None (no cap). Default: None.
  • AlignmentLeft, Center, or Right. Default: Left. This appears only when Width is set to Fill, since a fitted heading has no extra space to align within.

Background

Turn on Background to sit the heading inside a coloured panel. Two more controls appear once it is on:

  • Background Color — the panel colour. Default: white.
  • Corner Radius — how rounded the panel's corners are, from 0 to 120 px. Default: 0 (square corners).

Leave Background off for a plain heading with no panel behind it.

Shared controls

The Heading block carries the Settings tab common to most blocks, with Padding and Margin controls (top and bottom, plus left and right spacing) and an analytics key. Unlike most blocks, it has no container-width or colour-scheme controls here — the heading's own Background group, above, handles its panel colour.

Example

A large, centred page title:

Add the Heading block

Add a Heading block at the top of the page and type the title into the Text field.

Set the size

With the wording selected, choose Heading 1 from the formatting toolbar.

Centre it

In the Layout group, leave Width on Fill and set Alignment to Center.

To frame the title instead, turn on Background, pick a Background Color, and raise Corner Radius for softly rounded corners.
