Event instances
List the dates, times, and booking links for an event.
The Event Instances block lists an event's performances as a set of cards, each with its date, time, and a booking button. Use it on an event page to show every performance with a way to book it.
Events only
This block is available only while building an event page. It draws its dates and times from the event you work on. It will not appear in the block list on a standard page.
Choosing which dates to show
Instances sets which performances the block lists:
- All instances (default): show every performance attached to the event.
- Specific instances: pick the exact dates to list. Choosing this reveals a Specific Instances picker where you select the performances you want.
Select at least one date when you choose Specific instances. If the picker is empty, the block falls back to all instances for the current event.
Include Past Instances is off by default, so the list shows only upcoming dates. Turn it on to keep dates that have already happened in the list.
The live site shows only dates that are published, visible, and within the event's running dates. Draft dates can still appear while you preview the event, so check the published page before assuming a draft date is bookable.
The booking button
Each date is shown with a button that takes the reader into booking.
- Button Pattern: choose one of the button styles from your theme. Left unset, the block uses the first available style. See buttons and links for how button styles work.
- Icon: add an icon to the button (optional).
- Icon Position: place the icon Before Text (default) or After Text. This appears once an icon is chosen.
The card style
On the Appearance tab, Card Pattern chooses how each date's card looks, picked from the event card styles in your theme. Left unset, it uses the first events card style your theme provides.
Shared controls
Beyond the options above, the block uses the standard block controls.
- Layout controls: set the container width (a narrow width is available).
- Spacing and padding: adjust the margin and padding around the block.
- Colour scheme in blocks: set the color scheme for the cards and buttons, on the Appearance tab.
- Analytics keys: tag the block for reporting.
Example
On an event page, add an Event Instances block below the event header. Leave Instances on All instances and Include Past Instances off, so only upcoming dates appear. Pick a prominent Button Pattern for booking, add a ticket Icon set to Before Text, and choose an events Card Pattern. Each performance now lists its date and time with a clear button to book.
